Why should I contribute?
Your formal benefits are a valueable feedback from experienced users, an entry in the credit section of this homepage and of course in the credits of the resulting animation!
But probably the biggest benefit is that you get the chance to be part of a bigger production and cooperate with volunteers from all over the world. In the end it should be about enjoyment of creating computer graphics/animation/art, so jump on board!
How do I start?
If you want to help actively, the first step is to take a look at the TASK LIST. Find a task, that sounds interesting to you and drop a comment or a note in the forum that you’re starting to work on it. Be sure to meet the deadlines of the tasks (or tell us until when you can finish things).
Subscribe!
If you want to stay informed about the muffin or specific things only, you can subscribe to this blog.
We created lots of specific categories, so you can choose what you’ll be informed about. In order to subscribe to specific categories you have to register to this blog or you can use the fancy facebook connect.
What tools do I need?
I highly recommend also to look at the production pipeline definition in order to avoid formal conflicts. You can find all kinds of information about used tools/software and file formats there.
I finished a task. How do I deliver the result?
You have to create a new thread in the forum, where you can attatch your work. It will then be reviewed by the community.
Everybody is invited to give feedback to your work (by posting it or use the forums in-built rating system). This is very important, especially if we have to decide between multiple options (e.g. multiple story plots). Please don’t be disappointed if your work won’t get accepted or gets negative critique in first place. See it as a chance to improve it further and raise the level of you skills.
Once your work gets accepted, the decision will be posted here/the forum and of course you will be credited properely for your work
If you you can’t finish the task you started before the deadline, post the current state. Maybe, if you’ve done great so far, the community will consider to move the deadline.
Where can i find the production files?
The forum will work perfekt for posting text, single images, links, standalone scene files etc, but it’s not suited for posting rendered animations or a scene file hirarchy.
Therefor we use a Subversion repository for all production scene files. Subversion is a version control software that let’s you fetch the data at ease. Find out more about it here:
Subversion for Muffin Artists – Tutorial
For bigger files where version control makes no sense ( like renderings etc. ) we probably will use FTP servers for exchange.
Everthing clear? Then go and pick a proper task from the list.
